Find your footing and a new path forward after loss
Dealing with a painful breakup, fertility struggles, or a life transition that's harder than anyone expected? These are the losses people don't know how to talk about - but you shouldn't have to navigate them alone.
I specialize in virtual Acceptance and Commitment therapy for women in New York working through relationship endings, fertility challenges, the decision to be childfree, and other complicated grief and major life transitions. I help you process what you're going through and find confidence in who you're becoming.
You're tired of silently struggling, while putting on a smile for the rest of the world to see
Even if you look like you have it together, the grief from your breakup, miscarriage, childfree decision, or identity shift feels overwhelming in ways you didn't expect.
You're exhausted from trying to appear fine and get through the day while replaying what happened or what could have been over and over, wondering what went wrong or if you'll ever feel normal again.
Maybe you're avoiding places or people that remind you of what you lost, feeling disconnected from friends and family who don't understand or know how to support you, or questioning who you are and what your life looks like now or if you’re making the right decision.
If this sounds like you, you've landed in the right place. You don't have to perform here - let's gently explore together what you've been carrying all on your own, what's keeping you stuck, and how to feel better.
How I Can Help You Move Forward
Therapy with me isn't about "getting over" what you've lost or pushing yourself to move on before you're ready. It's about understanding the layers of your loss, processing grief that doesn't fit a neat timeline or category, and rebuilding yourself with intention.
We'll work on:
Processing relationship endings and breakups Whether you ended a long-term relationship, broke off an engagement, or are navigating the aftermath of a painful friendship split, I'll help you understand what you're mourning beyond just the person - the future you imagined, the identity you held, and the life you expected.
Navigating fertility struggles, pregnancy loss, and childfree decisions Infertility, miscarriage, and even the choice to not have children carry a unique kind of grief that's often invisible to others. We'll process the timeline you expected or what you're letting go of, the hope that feels fragile, and help you find meaning while holding space for the pain.
Moving through major life transitions and identity shifts Sometimes the grief is about who you once were - a version of yourself you don't connect with anymore but aren't sure how to let go of. Whether navigating a career change, move, sexuality or gender identity exploration, or other significant shift, we'll clarify what's been disrupted, identify your values, and help you move forward with intention.
The outcome?
You'll develop skills to feel your feelings without getting lost in them, identify what matters most to you, communicate your needs more effectively, and build confidence in who you're becoming - not who you used to be.
Meet Kim Jaso, LMHC
Hi, I'm Kim! I'm a licensed mental health counselor in New York specializing in helping women navigate the complicated losses that turn their world upside down - breakups, fertility struggles, and major life transitions.
My work with grief began years ago facilitating support groups for adults in their early 20s processing loss. What I witnessed again and again was how isolating it feels to grieve something your peers don't understand, which led me to specialize in complicated grief - the losses that don't fit society's expectations for “grief” counseling: a relationship that ended, a future that won't happen, or a version of yourself you're letting go of. My own experiences with grief and leaving the corporate world in my late 20s to become a therapist shape how I approach therapy: with curiosity, warmth, compassion, flexibility, and the understanding that grief (and life) doesn't follow a neat timeline.
In session, I'm conversational and collaborative. I'll ask questions that help you see patterns you might have missed, offer grounded insights when you're feeling stuck, and meet you with humor and levity when the work feels heavy. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy alongside relational, depth-oriented work to help you understand yourself more deeply, while also leaving sessions with practical tools you can use today.

What to Expect
Starting therapy can feel daunting or like a lot of work—especially if you’re anxious about finding the right fit. My goal is to make the process clear, calm, and as seamless as possible.
-
Don’t stress about this! We will use this space as an initial opportunity to connect, see if we vibe, and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. I’m also happy to share more about my session style and background.
-
If it feels like a good fit, we’ll book a 50-minute session where we’ll begin to understand what’s been going on—and where you want to go. We will move at your pace and begin to establish goals for our work together that will ground our first several sessions.
-
Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about understanding you more deeply and learning what you need to feel better. We’ll build something steady, honest, and tailored to your unique needs. It’s okay if over time, your goals change — my role is to reflect the progress you’ve made and help you explore where you may benefit from more support. Everyone “heals” on their own timeline and while progress is not always linear or obvious, I strive to help you feel it, even in small ways.
Therapy won’t make everything perfect. But it can make everything clearer.
It can help you trust your instincts again.
Speak up when something’s not working.
Stop apologizing for having feelings.
Loosen your grip on coping strategies that are quietly hurting you.
And finally start building a life that feels like yours.
